International RNA Summit at UCSC 2014
March 27, 2014
On March 25th and 26th, the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology in collaboration with the UCSC Center for Biological Science and Engineering (CBSE) and the Center for Computational and Applied Transcriptomics (COAT, University of Copenhagen) hosted more than 130 visiting scientists from ten different institutions and biotech firms. This International RNA Summit explored the interface between RNA biology and RNA-based therapeutic approaches to treating human disease. Motivation for the conference stems from an ongoing collaboration between researchers at the University of Copenhagen's COAT and UCSC Assistant Professor Jeremy Sanford and UCSC Biomolecular Engineering Professor David Haussler. The International RNA Summit was supported by a grant from The Innovation Center Denmark Silicon Valley Network, a group devoted to stimulating collaboration between Danish and California-based scientists.
