The Robert A. Ludwig Memorial Graduate Student Fund, an endowed fellowship established in honor of our colleague who succumbed to cancer in 2015, offers support to an outstanding graduate student selected annually by the MCD Biology Department. Growing this fund allows greater support. Read the tribute to Dr. Ludwig’s distinguished career written by Professor Harry Noller.
The Mary Zavanelli Fund for Undergraduate Research in the Health Sciences, an endowed fund, offers meaningful research opportunities for undergraduates. This fund honors our colleague, Mary Zavanelli, an outstanding and inspirational MCD Biology teaching professor who was diagnosed with ALS in 2013, and by the end of Winter 2016, was no longer able to continue teaching. Her family has offered to match donations up to $25,000.
Support the department and faculty
The MCD Biology Fund goes to the area of greatest need in the department.
Perhaps the most powerful way to support research and education is through providing faculty endowed chairs and startup chairs for hiring exceptional new faculty. If you are interested in exploring this avenue, please contact us.
